Ferme Blanche is a quaint old farmhouse ski chalet in an unspoilt mountain hamlet in Paradiski surrounded by meadows and forest, with breathtaking views. Owner-run and adults-only, it's ideal for couples or small groups looking for a peaceful winter mountain retreat. It has all the modern comforts, but retains its farmhouse charm with original beams, stone walls and lots of wood.
We're a dog friendly ski chalet too, so you're welcome to bring your pet - there's excellent dog walking from the door and we have an enclosed garden.
The chalet sits on the top edge of Montvilliers at 1100m. It's a tiny unspoilt hamlet tucked away on the mountainside below Montalbert, one of the La Plagne ski villages. It's a quick 5 minute run up to Montalbert's fast new gondola in our private minibus (just 2.5 miles drive), and you can ski back off-piste along a wide forest track if you dare, although a guide is advisable. You can also walk up too through the forest.
FLEXIBLE CATERED SERVICE
We own and run the chalet ourselves. The catered service includes accommodation, breakfast every day, home made cakes or biscuits in the afternoon (not arrival day or day off), and a 3 course evening meal with wine on 6 nights. Airport transfers are usually included except during peak weeks (supplement may apply).
ABOUT THE HAMLET
Montvilliers is a quiet unspoilt hamlet with just a handful of old houses, and panoramic views of the Tarentaise mountains and valley. Despite being so close to the slopes, the hamlet has managed to stay hidden and undeveloped. Children make snowmen and sledge in the village fields, deer and wild boar visit the gardens at night, and the sky is lit by stars and a few old fashioned street lamps. You feel a million miles away from the outside world - no traffic, no bars, and no shops.
The nearest village is 2 kilometres away in Longefoy, a 20 minute flatish walk along a country lane. It has an excellent restaurant and bar. You can also walk up to the shops, restaurants and bars in Montalbert, only advisable during the daytime (depending on conditions about 25 minutes from the house on foot following country trails). There's a choice of waymarked trails for snow shoeing and dog walking too, direct from the house.
THE RESORT - LA PLAGNE MONTALBERT
Montalbert 1350m is one of La Plagne's village resorts. Situated in the Vanoise Massif opposite the Mont-Blanc and Beaufortain ranges, Montalbert benefits from tree-lined, north facing slopes, helping to retain its snow throughout the season. La Plagne also has a glacier and lots of skiing above 2000 metres, so snow is more or less guaranteed.
The slopes of Montalbert have beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and the village itself is free of the ugly high rises common in many resorts. There is a wide selection of restaurants and bars and plenty to do away from the slopes – including cross country skiing, dog sledding, and snow shoe trails starting from Montvilliers itself.
