For those looking for a holiday with the traditional feel of a rustic mountain get away than look no further than the resort of Les Contamines.  Located in the ‘Evasion Mont Blanc’ ski area, only 80km from Geneva airport, it goes without saying that the resort offers a fantastic range of skiing and with it’s reliable snow record visitors can rest at ease that they will be having lots of fun in the snow.

There is a great range of skiing available for all levels with even the most experienced being kept on their toes with fantastic off piste and challenging runs.  The area ranges from the village that rests at 1100m which increases to 2500m at the L’Aiguille Croche. Within the area lies four sections known as the Tierces section, the Roselette section, the Montjoie section and the Hauteluce section.

For those wanting to be at the highest point and to test their skills on two of the resorts most challenging black runs (the Grevettaz and Rebans), the Tierces section is the ideal choice.  It is south facing and on good days offers fantastic views of Mont Blanc.  There are also a selection of easier blue and red runs for those wanting something a little less scary!

The North facing section is known as the Roselette and is an area that offers a great variety of runs for all levels from blue to black.  There is also the potential for off piste action with views on the Aiguille de Rosselette towering over the majority of the area providing a breathtaking backdrop.

The final two sections are the Hauteluce section and the Montjoie section.  The Hauteluce runs the other side of the Col du Joy and provides a variety of runs making it a great desitination for all level skiers.  The Montjoie section is the name given to all the lower runs of the area.

Les Contamines is an unspoilt ski resort that retains all the charm of a traditional mountain village.  There are a small selection of bars and restaurants which create a vibrant buzz around resort and reward skiers with well earned après ski after a hard day up the hill.  A great destination for those wanting a ski holiday that has easy access, great skiing conditions and the feel of a traditional mountain holiday.
